I have a 4hp mastercraft snowblower. I’m pretty sure I have some debris lodged in my carb. Can it be blown out?

Warren asked:

I want to disconnect my gas line and blow thru my exhaust. will this help unclog my carb?

You might try just draining the gas tank first (I usually turn the thing upside down in my driveway), adding a little fuel back in, and starting it. Almost always works.

If that doesn’t work, drain the fuel tank, then spray it out with a can of Dust Remover (find it in the computer department at Walmart, Best Buy, etc).

Then do the same with the gas line.

I always run my tank dry at the end of the season to get avoid this (the debris often comes from chemicals in the gas changing into solids with age). But I have some elderly neighbors who don’t, and have trouble with their gas powered lawn mowers and snowblowers every year.

    Good Luck

No, that won’t work. I you have debris in the carb you should remove the carb, disassemble it and clean it properly with a good solvent. Reassemble using a rebuild kit. While your doing that you should make sure that the fuel tank and lines are clean also. Than get a funnel with a screen in it.
