I have a new craftsman 9hp dual stage snowthrower, it always hesitates and sometimes stalls during use, help?
Kyle L asked:
if you can provide me with any tips or reasons why it does this please answer, i am starting to worry because none of my neighbors have this problem with their snowblowers.
The blower will hesitate when it idles or when it handles light snow, it is fine when the engine in working hard in a deep amount of snow.
I will adjust the carb and see how things go from there, thanx

The stall is probably from overload, quit forcing it into the snowbank and let the machine do the work. Patience is best.

If it’s really new, I might take it back to Sears. It could be the gas you put in, was it new? Was it sitting in the snowblower since last winter? Gas that has been sitting for 6 months to a year or longer can varnish (some of it turns to a brownish goo). If the fuel is old, your only option is to remove all of the bad fuel and replace it. You may also need to clean the carburetor. You can check for this symptom by turning off the fuel valve and removing the bowl from the bottom of the carburetor. If there’s anything other than pure gasoline in there you will have problems. If that’s what the problem turns out to be, you can try to avoid it by storing the blower with an empty fuel tank. There are also fuel stabilizers you can buy that will keep the gas fresh longer but I’ve heard mixed results from people that have used them.

if this IS new and as someone stated you have good clean fuel then the carbureator probably needs adjusted. most people(mechanics and homeowners) fail to adjust the GOVERNOR correctly if this is not set right your engine will lack any kind of performance ps ensure that the choke is off after the engine warms up as this will also cause lack of power this list is only things to check first as MANY things can cause your problems and I can respond only to what you have described ps if new its under warranty take back to dealer ask them to correct
